Grow Team O.N.E. Annual Meeting
The 2011 Grow Team O.N.E. Annual Meeting was Jan. 19. We discussed fundraising opportunities and garden projects over yummy snacks. The steering committee meets every two months from November to March and monthly throughout the growing season. New members are always welcome!

Harvest Potluck
Great food, music, and company made the Oct. 28 Grow Team O.N.E. a huge success. We celebrated a productive garden season and shared the fruits (and veggies) of our labor with gardeners and garden friends.

10-10-10 Garden Work Day
The footings are in! Thanks to the 350.org inspired work crew, the Riverside Neighborhood Garden pavilion is one step closer to completion. The post and beam structure, designed by Paul Schwartzkopf, will include a shade structure, garden shed and rainwater collection system. Come help with the frame building on Nov. 6!

Slow Food Vermont Dig In Work Day
A great group of Slow Food Vermont members put their shovels to the ground at the Riverside Neighborhood Garden Sept. 25 to dig footing holes for the garden pavilion, a beautiful post and beam structure designed by Paul Schwartzkopf. Work continues on the pavilion, which will include a butterfly roof shade structure and garden shed and a new rainwater collection system.

Kitchen Garden Day Potluck
We had a lovely potluck in the Riverside Community Room August 24 to celebrate Kitchen Garden Day (KGD), an annual, decentralized celebration of kitchen gardens and delicious, home-grown foods. It started as a healthy rebuttal to "Snack Food Month" organized by the International Snack Food Association each February. KGD is recognized each year on the 4th Sunday of August. It is an opportunity for people around the world to gather in their gardens with members of their local community to celebrate and learn about kitchen gardens and healthy home-grown foods. More info at http://kitchengardeners.org

Ramble Garden Party: Celebrating four years of fun!

The fourth annual Grow Team ONE Garden Party was a Ramble highlight again this year. Brett Hughes and Y'ardy Yar entertained the crowd with great tunes, Emily and Sean’s veggie burgers were a big hit, and Karen’s cornucopia of salads were delicious! After a few hours of music, food, kids activities, and general garden merriment, folks joined Alisa Whitefor a bike tour community gardens, home permaculture paradises, an edible food forest, and a few secret gardens, too.

May 8 Perennial Sale a Huge Success!
Marking its 10th year, the annual Plant Sale held May 8 was a huge success. Hundreds of people took home beautiful perennial flowers and herbs in support of Grow Team ONE and Friends of Burlington Gardens. The proceeds will be used to support the development of neighborhood gardens and garden-based education and outreach.
Thank you to the volunteers, the people who donated plants and pots, and to all the customers! Your support helps the Archibald and Riverside gardens grow.

Fall Potluck
We had a lovely potluck at the Riverside Community Room on Oct. 23 with Grow Team members, friends, and gardeners. The food was delicious and Rebecca and Bob's musical entertainment was lovely! We were also pleased to welcome Holly and Liz, two UVM students who will be working with Grow Team next semester.
